ENJOY THE JOURNEY
As early as high school, I struggled to balance school and social life. After my first semester of medical school, I realised that at the rate I was going, I would look back on these years of my life and feel like all I did was study.
I think It is so important that we don’t just pass through these years. Yes, we want to excel in school but we should also enjoy life outside of school. As uncomfortable and difficult as it may be to find that balance, NOW is the time to start implementing the changes. To work through the guilt and to condition one’s self to be present during breaks and to prioritise life and family events that one deems important.
I'm so grateful to have friends who have modelled balance and called me out for my unhealthy practices. I encourage you to hold your friends and study groups accountable! Have fun from time to time. Continue to nurture your hobbies and other passions. Whatever you enjoy, infuse that into your day to day.
